Teen charged with murder of 89-year-old Warren woman

WARREN, Ohio - A 17-year-old is facing murder charges in the February shooting death of an 89-year-old Warren woman.
Shamar Askew was indicted in a special session of the Trumbull county grand jury on Wednesday in connection with the death of Ruth Lewis, 89, on February 28.
Lewis was hit by gunfire while sitting in a living room on Starlite Avenue in Warren, where family had gathered to plan the funeral of her son, who had recently died of a heart attack.
Both she and her son, Derrick, were remembered in a joint funeral in March.
Police have said they don't believe Lewis was the intended target of the gunfire.
Askew is facing two counts of murder, along with tampering with evidence and improperly discharging firearms.
He's expected to appear in court early next week.
