BAZETTA TWP., Ohio -
As the holidays approach and more people are having packages delivered, the Bazetta Fire Department wants to make sure those packages are delivered safely and kept out of the hands of thieves.
For the second year, the department is offering their 'safe package delivery program' where residents can have packages delivered to the fire station and they can then pick-up the package at a later time.
The program is free and runs from December 1, 2021 through December 23, 2021.
"This will provide you with the peace of mind knowing that your package(s) will be kept safe," said the department on a post to Facebook.
Below are the instructions:
1. Have your packages sent to:
YOUR NAME
Bazetta Fire Department
3000 Warren-Meadville Rd
Cortland, OH 44410
2. Call Bazetta Fire Department between the hours of 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., give your name, contact number and estimated arrival date of your package.
3. To pick up your packages, residents must bring an issued identification card and the order/shipment proof of receipt. Parents picking up packages addressed to their children must bring proof of guardianship and/or the child's identification.
4. Residents can pick up their packages during the following times:
Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-7 p.m.
Saturday 8 a.m.- 12 p.m.
There is no Sunday pick-up.
5. Bazetta Fire Department asks that packages shipped to the fire station weigh less than 50 pounds and not require a signature.
The department notes that because they are an emergency service, they may not always be at the station when someone comes to pick-up a package, but crews usually return "in a relatively short period of time."
