Wampum annual Christmas parade returns Saturday

WAMPUM, Pa. - The Wampum Area 49th Annual Christmas Parade is returning Saturday, Dec. 4.
The festivities kick off at 1:00 p.m. with a confetti bomb start. Following that, guests will see homemade floats, marching bands, a fire whistle, candy filled pinatas, dancers, horses, dogs, costumed characters and local dignitaries.
Band Together Pittsburgh is a new addition to the parade this year. Band Together Pittsburgh is an organization that uses the power of music to encourage individuals on the Autism spectrum throughout the area.
This year's parade is dedicated to Frank Yoho Jr. of Wayne Township, who has portrayed Santa Claus in the parade for 28 years. He also helped the Wampum Christmas Parade Committee with projects such as creating the display housing Santa and Mrs. Claus as they greet the children in the gymnasium following the parade.
Yoho died back in June of 2021.
Guests can purchase refreshments at The American Legion on Beaver St. Additionally, after the parade, guests can take photos with Santa in Wampum's gymnasium on Main St.
The parade is sponsored by the Wampum American Legion Post 749, American Legion Auxiliary, the Wampum Lions Club, the Wampum Area Women's Club and the Wampum Area Business Association.
