Mercy Health will join other hospitals and require its health care workers to become fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

In a statement a Mercy Health Spokesperson said, "Mercy Health is proceeding with plans to meet the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) requirement for health care workers to be fully vaccinated by Jan. 4. "

The hospital says "the COVID-19 vaccine helps keep employees and patients safe and lessens the likelihood for serious illness and even hospitalization and supports our Vision for wellness in our communities."

The hospital says they will consider exemptions for medical reasons and 'sincerely held religious belief.'

Mercy locations in the Mahoning Valley include: St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital, St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, St. Joseph Warren Hospital, and several smaller clinic locations.
