WARREN, Ohio - The Trumbull County Sheriff's Office has requested $1 million in order to help increase deputies' pay.

In addition to pay increases, Trumbull County Sheriff Paul Monroe says body cams for deputies is also on his radar. They've been looking into body cams for about a year and are almost ready to make a purchase.

Sheriff Monroe says he's waiting on a grant from the justice department to make the purchase.

"If we can use federal monies to pay for our body cameras, that's certainly the route we are going to take, but if that falls through, we do want the county to consider this is very important to us and very important to the community," Monroe said.

Currently the department is down 12 deputies and hopes this pay increase will attract new candidates.
