CORTLAND, Ohio - 9th graders at Lakeview High School are hoping they played a role in setting a Guiness World Record Friday morning.

They joined people around the world by taking part in the Assistive Technology World Record Challenge. They were hoping to set the Guiness World Record for most people completing a 3D printing lesson in one day.

The idea is to raise awareness for the need for affordable assistive technology solutions for those with disabilities. They chose to do the challenge today because December 3rd is the UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The challenge consisted of students watching two training videos to learn more about how assistive devices help people with disabilities complete routine technology tasks (i.e. moving a mouse) and how these devices can be created with 3D printers.

This all ties in with a project students are currently working on in class to create assistive technology devices that will be printed on 3D printers at school in the coming weeks.

Following each video, students completed a brief quiz on the information presented and then received certificates for completing the training.

The challenge lasts 24 hours, so they should know by Monday if they helped set the Guinness World Record!
