Youngstown man charged after being identified as suspect in electric scooter theft in Austintown

A Youngstown man has been charged after Austintown Police identified him as the suspect of an electric scooter theft taking place at Walmart in Austintown.
James Williams (47) was charged with Shoplifting after police identified him as the suspect. The incident took place on Saturday, Nov. 20.
A loss prevention officer at the Walmart told police that he observed Williams enter the store with an empty shopping cart and exit with three Razor electric scooters making no attempt to pay for the items.
The loss prevention officer told police that while leaving, an employee asked Williams to show a receipt for the items, but he continued to make his way out of the store.
Police say the loss prevention officer provided a DVD recording of surveillance video of the incident along with a receipt totaling the cost of the stolen items, and a photograph of the Williams leaving the building
Currently, the stolen property has not been recovered.
