It's been an idea long in the making and today, Governor Mike DeWine announced a $3 million dollar water tower project that will significantly impact the Weathersfield community.

"If everybody knew our water pressure in this community, they'd all move out," said Weathersfield Trustee Marvin McBride.

Officials say the water pressure was so low, a huge fire would suck the water from homes.

Fire Chief Tom Lambert says there were even times when fire fighters were delayed in their battles due to that low water pressure.

"Now that this water tower's gonna go in, we're gonna have the water pressure we need that we can supress the fires," said Chief Lambert. "And not have to be nervous everytime we go out on a call, whether we're gonna have enough water pressure or not to put the fire out," he said.

The money comes from the American Rescue Plan, which DeWine originally opposed due to lack of Republican support.

21 News asked the governor if he's reconsidered and if he wants to see members of his party work with the White House more on these types of projects.

"Well, I always think that it's, that it is good for people to work together and try to solve problems," said Governor DeWine. "That's what I did when I was in the United States Congress, that's what I've tried to do as governor so working together is, is always important," he said.

Officials are hoping the project will be complete by Spring 2023.
