Holiday shipping deadlines start Wednesday, Dec. 15

It's officially crunch time as the days, dwindle between now and Christmas.
We all know Santa will deliver on his promise to get the gifts under the tree.
But will everyone else deliver?
The deadlines to ship out those gifts are coming up fast. Ground shipping deadlines for Fed Ex and the postal service is Wednesday, December 15th. for UPS you'll need to check their website for a quote. The absolute deadline to get something somewhere by Christmas is Thursday the 23rd for UPS, Friday the 24th for Fed EX and Thursday the 23rd for the post office, but those options are way over double the normal costs.
"Everything is based on the size of the package so you want to keep everything small no matter how you are shipping it," said Tracy Schoot of Send it Packin' in Austintown.
Send it Packin' helps people ship just about anything anywhere. They recommend not using craft paper or brown grocery bag paper outside a box because it can clog up machines.
"YOU WANT TO USE AT LEAST 2" PACKAGING TAPE. DUCT TAPE DOES NOT STICK TO CARDBOARD VERY WELL BECAUSE OF ITS POROUS NATURE. SCOTCH TAPE DOESN'T STICK EITHER," added SChott.
You should use bubble wrap or packing peanuts to make sure the item stays safe and by the way, most are made out of corn starch these days and not Styrofoam.
Retail experts say Covid may still be effecting the shipping and delivery process so act sooner than later.
"Shipping from these warehouses are experiencing worker shortages which causes things to move more slowly when it comes to packing, shipping out and delivering packages. Weather could be an issue as well. When you're shopping at the last minute every single day makes a difference in whether you get something on time or late," said Kristin McGrath of retailmenot.com.
