Valley native Jeff Rainer has been selected as an Alternate Football Official for the NCAA Division 2 Championship Game on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at McKinney, Texas., betweem Valdosta State and  Ferris State.

Jeff has been a member of the Youngstown District Football Officials Association (YDFOA) for 31 years. He has worked as Umpire, Back Judge and Line Judge for high school games. In the Division II Mountain East Conference and the Division III Presidents Athletic Conference, he's worked as an umpire  for the last 11 years. Jeff has also been a short wing and deep wing in previous seasons.

His college playoff games have included Lenoir-Rhyne at Bowie State, New Haven at Kutztown and Northwest Missouri State at Ferris State.

The game will be televised on ESPNU at 9:00 pm.
