Youngstown man sentenced for rape charges in Liberty

LIBERTY TWP, Ohio - A Youngstown man has been sentenced to 10 to 15 years in prison for the rape incident in Liberty back in February.
Andrew Malachin (48) was convicted in November on two first-degree felony rape charges for a rape taking place in a Liberty home in February. Malachin must also register as a tier three sex offender.
According to Judge Rice, Malachin had raped a family friend after intoxicating her and spiking her drink and taking her home and forcibly raped and sodomized her in a room next to her sleeping children.
Malachin told Judge Rice he recalls everything that happened throughout the day except for the rape incident.
Judge Rice stated that he and the court were "deeply disturbed" by Malachin's actions and described Malachin as the "worst of the worst" during his sentencing.
