YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The City of Youngstown announced its new prosecutor.

Kathy Thompson was appointed as the city's prosecutor, effective Wednesday.

Thompson has practiced law for 18 years and has served the City Law Department and the City Prosecutor's Office for 10 years.

She is a lifelong area resident, having graduated from Campbell Memorial High School and Youngstown State University.

Thompson's appointment comes after former prosecutor Jeff Limbian stepped down from the position in November.

Limbian relinquished his position as prosecutor but is still serving as the City Law Director.
