Giant Eagle recalled over 40 products—including 36 of their own branded items on Tuesday.

The grocery chain announced on its website that products like Giant Eagle brand sweet butter, cooking spinach, coleslaw and shredded lettuce were recalled because of potential Listeria contamination.

Listeria is a type of bacteria found in soil, water and some animals, including cattle and poultry. When eaten, Listeria causes a foodborne illness called listeriosis, one of the most serious types of food poisoning.

Other products like Fresh Express vegetable items were recalled. The full list of items can be found here.

Giant Eagle said that customers who have purchased the affected product and are still in possession of it should dispose of it. Customers may also bring in the qualifying receipt to receive a refund on their purchase of the affected product.
