After lawmakers approved legislation to legalize sports betting Ohio earlier this month, Gov. Mike DeWine signed it into law on Wednesday.

Sports gamblers in Ohio will be able to place wagers at casinos, racinos, bars, restaurants and online.

According to the AP, the Dec. 10 legislation that was approved mandates that sports betting be made available by News Years Day of 2023, if it is not implemented and regulated sooner.

It's expected to take several months for the Casino Control Commission to create regulations, and operators will pay a 10% tax on net revenues to the state to, "help fund K-12 education and problem gambling programs," according to the Associated Press.
