Family dinners have long been a Christmas Eve tradition, and with the holiday just days away, shoppers are stocking up on last minute items.

"The rush has been on hams, bread, rolls from our bakery, fresh greens, fresh lettuce from our produce.", emphasized Sam Gatta, store manager of Sparkle Market in Youngstown.

Rulli Bros in Austintown is also no stranger to high demand.

"Some of the items, the chestnuts, escarole, and endive for their wedding soup.  They're still baking so we're selling a lot of baking items.", added Joe Richards.

Despite the high demand, both Sam and Joe say the supply chain has met that demand.

At Jimmy's Italian Specialties, supply is also faring well, but particular cheeses have been hard to come by.

"Many of our imported cheeses that people look forward to like traditional cheeses, like sharp provolone I was only able to get a certain amount of.", says store owner Frank Occhibove.

With Christmas Eve falling on a Friday this year, fish has been a highly sought after item

"Because of short supply we've been allocated so many pounds of fish so unfortunately we had to turn people away, but we will have some fish.", Occhibove adds.

While main dishes and entrees for your Christmas Eve dinner will see little to no effect, you may have a hard time finding some items such as cream cheese.

"Now it's a cream cheese shortage, it's finally hit Youngstown.  Sure enough Kraft is offering people money not to make cheesecakes, and we had to scramble to get cream cheese for bagels.", said Jack Kravitz, owner of Kravitz Deli
