TROY TWP., OHIO -  Seven members of a Geauga County family were rushed to hospitals early Monday where they are being treated for carbon monoxide poisoning.

Rescue squads from several departments were called out after 6 a.m. to a home on Tavern Road in Troy Township about four miles from Trumbull County.

People living at the home were experiencing vomiting and other carbon monoxide poisoning symptoms.

Two adults and five children ranging in age from four to 14 were taken to area hospitals.

Troy Fire Chief Eric Mathews tells 21 News that firefighters detected high levels of the colorless, odorless gas in the home.

Chief Mathews believes the gas came from a coal stove that had been fired up for the first time this season.

Mathews said the victims were still in the hospital late Monday morning.
