Austintown man accused pointing shotgun at Warren Police Captain

WARREN, Ohio - An Austintown man who was once accused of swinging a machete and making threats in Downtown Youngstown is jailed without bond for allegedly pointing a shotgun at a police officer in Warren.
Daniel Nelson-Harnevious was arrested by Warren Police late Tuesday after Warren Police Captain Robert Massucci said the 26-year-old Austintown resident pointed a gun at him in front of an auto parts store on Youngstown Road SE.
Massucci told fellow officers that the man with the gun drove away. However, the suspect was spotted later by police who placed Nelson-Harnevious in handcuffs.
Officers found an SUV parked nearby behind an address on East Market Street. Inside the SUV was a knife and an unloaded double-barreled shotgun that had been disassembled. Police say the shotgun was so old, no serial number could be located.
Also found behind the home was a leather coat containing a pocket knife and a butcher knife.
Charges of aggravated menacing and carrying concealed weapons have been filed against Nelson-Harnevious.
An arraignment was delayed until Friday while court officials await an evaluation of the suspect.
In May 2019, Youngstown Police arrested Nelson-Harnevious for allegedly swinging a machete and threatening a man near a downtown business. When police arrested him they found two machetes in his car.
More recently, Nelson-Harnevious was convicted of violating a protection order last year.
On Wednesday, Austintown Police issued a warrant for his arrest for an alleged violation of a protection order.
