TRUMBULL COUNTY, OH - Warren Mayor William D. Franklin and the Director of Public Safety and Service Eddie Colbert held a press conference along with the Vice President of Medical Affairs and Emergency Physician at Mercy Health, Dr. Jill Stefanucci Uberti and Director of Trumbull Regional Medical Center, Dr. James F. Sina to address rising Covid-19 concerns in Trumbull county

The conference aimed to bring awareness to the sense of urgency of the rising Covid-19 cases throughout Trumbull County.

Currently, 50% of people in the hospital have Covid-19, and people are putting themselves at risk by coming to the hospital if their cases are more mild. They are encouraging people no to go to the hospital unless they fell they have a severe case of Covid-19.

They also addressed the limited amount of test kits in the area, and that they currently do not have enough tests to meet the demand for them.

As of January 6, there were 1,074 new Covid-19 cases in Trumbull County, as well as increasing death rates throughout the county.

Dr. Sina and Dr. Uberti attributed the rising cases to holiday gatherings and the highly transmissible Omicron variant.

Dr. Uberti said that 80% of people in the hospitals with Covid-19 are unvaccinated.

During the conference, they were encouraging people to wear masks and get vaccinated.
