New coffee shop with a mission opening Saturday in Youngstown

There's a brand-new cafe opening called "Glenwood Grounds" on Youngstown's south side.
The grand opening is Saturday and those at the forefront created the shop with a mission, and said it's "more than just coffee."
"It means a little more than just coffee grounds," Gary Koerth, Executive Director of a non-profit ministry, Hope for Renewal, said, "It means gathering grounds."
Koerth said not only will the cafe serve fresh coffee and baked goods, but it will serve the community, by bringing the neighborhood together in an enjoyable atmosphere while spreading a message of "hope."
"We really desire this place to be a gathering place for the community, to bring peace and hope and joy into lives, so it's much more than a cup of coffee, dessert and food, it's about community," Koerth said.
Hope for Renewal opened the cafe, which will be staffed entirely by volunteers.
The cozy atmosphere also showcases paintings by local artists to illustrate stories of hope in an area of the city that could use the inspiration, as well as a place to go in this area of Glenwood Avenue.
"Food is one thing that people gather over. You share life when you eat or when you have a cup of coffee with someone," he said, "We've noticed in this community, there are not many places to go and do that, so this place was built specifically for this neighborhood."
From freshly brewed coffee and tea to homemade pie, cookies, muffins, the menu has a lot to offer with plans to offer more.
"Speciality drinks... all the espresso-based macchiatos, lattes, cappuccinos and we serve them at a price that's affordable for everyone," he said.
Glenwood Grounds opens Saturday, January 7th at 7 a.m. and the business hours will be Tuesday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
It's located on 2906 Glenwood Avenue.
