Snow, lots of it, coupled with wind gusts are making the Monday morning commute hazardous in Mahoning, Trumbull, and other counties in Northeast Ohio.

A winter storm warning remains in effect until 10 am with heavy snow and northwest winds gusting as high as 30 miles per hour, causing blowing and drifting snow.

At 2:30 am Monday, the Austintown Police Department called local media outlets asking that people stay off the roads.

A State Trooper in Trumbull County described roads as "terrible", saying that state and local road crews are out, but the snow is falling and drifting so quickly it is difficult to keep up.

The Patrol says State Route 11 in Trumbull County is hazardous.  They've asked ODOT to plow the highway again.

An ambulance was stuck in the snow at the Royal Mall apartment complex just before 5:30 a.m.

The Ohio Department of Transportation reported visibility of only one-tenth of a mile along Interstate 80 at the state line.

Speeds were down to 30 miles per hour along a section of I-80 in Western Mahoning County.
