YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Nearly 8,000 customers lost power into Saturday morning following an 'equipment issue' within a substation near Salt Springs Road.

Ohio Edison Spokesperson Lauren Siburkis tells 21 News that electricity was slowly restored to customers by 7:10 a.m.

Making a repair took extra time, because Siburkis says the area where the issue was located was blocked by heavy snow. She says the outdoor elements resulted in more time on site to make the fix.

At around 6 a.m. about 1,500 customers were still without power from the West side of Youngstown and into Austintown.

Customers called 21 News to report they woke up without any electricity amid the frigid cold temperatures.
