MESOPOTAMIA TWP., Ohio -  Firefighters from departments in three counties were called out into single-digit temperatures to battle flames at a barn in Trumbull County.

Dispatchers were told shortly before 5 a.m. Saturday that flames were coming through the roof of the barn at State Route 534 and County Line Donley Road in Mesopotamia Township.

Some men ran to the barn to rescue the horses that were inside.

A second alarm was sent out as smoke towered in the sky and flames spread throughout the barn.

Fire Departments from Geauga and Ashtabula counties spent much of the morning at the scene.
