LOWELLVILLE, Ohio - Students returning to class this week in the Lowellville School District are no longer required to wear masks.

Superintendent Geno Thomas announced on the system’s website that as of Monday the district will return to a mask-optional policy.

Citing a reduction in cases and quarantines, Thomas is still encouraging students to mask up.

As of Friday, the district’s COVID 19 Dashboard reported two active student cases and reported that eight students were in quarantine.  No cases were reported among staff members.

Thomas said if the number of cases and quarantines increase, or of the schools see a cluster of cases, the district will consider returning to a make mandate.
