SALEM, Ohio - The cause of a fire that damaged a home and two vehicles Monday morning in Salem home has been determined.

A home on Georgetown Road caught fire at approximately 10:30 a.m. Monday morning. Six fire departments responded to the scene.

Damascus Fire Department's assistant chief tells 21 News that the cause was determined to be a box of ashes located in the garage connected to the house.

Crews tell 21 News that all occupants got out of the home safely and no injuries were reported. However, half of the house is completely burned down.

The homeowners did not go on camera, but told 21 News that they have family in the area they plan on staying with.
