One person died following an explosion in Tallmadge Monday morning, investigators said.

Authorities said the burst happened at a storage unit outside of a granite supplier.

When first responders arrived to the scene, they found one man dead and two women hurt. The Tallmadge Fire Department says the three might have been trying to thaw out a frozen lock on the unit when the blast occurred.

"Our belief is they were trying to thaw them out in some way to gain access," said Tallmadge Deputy Fire Chief Ben Stasik. "What exactly they were using or what exactly they were trying to thaw is still under investigation."

Both the State Fire Marshal and Tallmadge Police Department have continued investigating the explosion.
