AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - U.S. Marshals arrested a suspect with a reportedly stolen firearm at a hotel in Austintown late Tuesday morning.

Marshals located 49-year-old Michael Burns at Quality Inn in Austintown. Marshals say Burns was wanted for violations of his probation from the Stark County Probation Office.

Burns' underlying offense was a voluntary manslaughter with weapons conviction from 2017.

When Marshals made contact with Burns in his hotel room, Burns fired at least one shot from a firearm that was allegedly stolen.

Several minutes later, Burns surrendered and was taken into custody in the hallway of the hotel. The firearm was recovered from the room. No one was injured during the incident.

Burns will remain in the Mahoning County Jail until he can be extradited to Stark County for his pending case and is currently charged with a parole violation.

Further charges from the Austintown Police Department and United States Attorney's Office are also being reviewed.
