Boardman man arrested after short standoff with police with seven children in home Monday

BOARDMAN, Ohio - We're getting more details on the events that led up to a heavy police presence including tactical vehicles in a Boardman neighborhood Monday afternoon.
According to a police report, police were called to a home on Clifton Drive near the intersection with Southern Boulevard shortly before 1 a.m. Monday for a report of a domestic violence incident.
Police spoke with the alleged female victim at the scene who told officers that her boyfriend, identified as 29-year-old Alan Direnzo (pictured below) came home intoxicated and wanted to leave, but she took his car keys away from him because of his condition.

The woman further told police this led to the two going on the floor and Direnzo was able to get his keys back and leave the house.
According to the report, police noticed a red mark underneath the woman's right eye. Police say the woman told officers she got the mark from the car keys hitting her, her not getting enough sleep and her liver shutting down, but police say the mark was more consistent with physical violence.
One witness told police she had seen Direnzo punch the woman and that the fight ended after the witness pushed him off of the woman.
According to the report, the woman continued to deny that any physical violence occurred, but when police mentioned filing a report and domestic violence charges, she started crying and seemed relieved.
Police also say she nodded her head when officers said they didn't think she was telling the full story.
According to the report, police were called back to the home just before 1 p.m. that same day to serve an arrest warrant. Police say they were loudly knocking on the door ordering Direnzo to come out, but he wouldn't.
This caused SWAT units and additional off-duty officers to be called to the scene and police to close Clifton Road between Erie Street and Southern Boulevard to secure a perimeter.
According to the report, police continued to order Direnzo to come out via a loudspeaker and he eventually did and placed under arrest. Police say seven children were inside the home during the incident.
As a result of this incident, Direnzo was further charged with a felony count of obstructing official business and a misdemeanor count of endangering children in addition to his misdemeanor domestic violence charge.
He was arrainged on these charges Tuesday morning. Court records do not show when his next court date will be yet.
