Dispatch: Four injured, two trapped after roof of Champion Township building collapses
Four people have reportedly been injured and two were reportedly trapped after the roof of a building in Champion Township collapsed Wednesday afternoon.
According to Trumbull County dispatch, the roof collapsed resulting in injuries including one male victim losing part of one of his fingers.
Sources said the property is owned by Warren Steel Holdings is slated to be demolished.
The male victim was taken to a local hospital. Three victims suffered minor injuries and were not transported.
Initial reports said that two individuals were possibly trapped at the scene. A contractor at the scene tells us that the two trapped individuals were able to escape within about 15 seconds.
There is no official cause determined for the collapse at this time, but the contractor tells us he believes it could be due to excess snowfall.
According to a Champion Township firefighter, all four victims on the scene were subcontractors who were on the scene for asbestos removal.
