Moreno quits GOP U.S. Senate race after Trump meeting

One of the people who’ve been on TV ads recently talking about their support for former President Trump has suspended his campaign seeking the Republican nomination to run for the U.S. Senate in Ohio.
Businessman Bernie Moreno announced on Thursday that after meeting privately with Trump, he would be focusing on defeating the Democrat Tim Ryan, who is eying the Senate seat.
“I am a businessman, not a politician. Business leaders recognize patterns before they happen,” said Moreno in a statement. “After talking to President Trump we both agreed this race has too many Trump candidates and could cost the MAGA movement a conservative seat.”
Moreno said he is ending his campaign to return to the private sector.
There are still eight candidates seeking the GOP nomination including Matt Dolan, Mike Gibbons, Bill Graham, Josh Mandel, Neil Patel, Mark Pukita, Jane Timken, and JD Vance.
Along with Rep. Ryan, Democrats Morgan Harper, Traci Johnson, and LaShondra Tinsley say they want the Senate job.
