About 500 people have a chance to attain a few moments of fame on the silver screen as a film production company seeks extras this weekend for a movie being filmed in Columbiana.

Menning Films has been in the city since January shooting the picture “Christmas Angel”, a movie about a town where residents are not allowed to celebrate Christmas.

Christmas Angel" will star Karen Abercrombie, who also starred in the 2015 film, War Room.

The Christmas tree in Downtown Columbiana remains up for production as various holiday-themed scenes are being filmed.

This coming Saturday, on the evening of February 12, moviemakers are recruiting between 500 and 1000 people to take part in a Christmas Eve scene.

Producers say there may be opportunities to be upgraded to a featured extra in some scenes.
