A Pittsburgh man known to burglarize sports memorabilia stores was arrested in Boardman Monday morning.

Boardman police say officers from the White Oak Police Department in Pennsylvania sent a tip to them about 44-year-old Jarrod Pickering possibly traveling to the area.

According to the release, Boardman officers conducted surveillance at three local sports memorabilia stores in the township.

An officer observed a vehicle matching the description given by White Oak police on Market Street. The same car was later found in the parking lot of Youngstown Sports Cards on Route 224.

Officers converged on the scene and detained Pickering. They say he was wearing dark clothing and work gloves.

Police say Pickering had a fictitious license plate held by two rubber bands covering his real plate. Duct tape was also placed over the Audi insignia on the trunk lid.

Pickering was arrested for drug paraphernalia and was cited for traffic violations. His car was impounded for further investigation.
