ATLANTA, Ga - The suspect of the murder of an 18-year-old woman in Akron has been found and arrested by U.S. Marshals in Atlanta, Georgia on Tuesday.

Adarus Black (19) was taken into custody by members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitives Task Force (NOVFTF) as well as the Sandy Springs Police Department's SWAT Team and the Southwest Regional Fugitives Task Force.

Black was wanted for the murder of 18-year-old Na'kia Crawford. Crawford was shot multiple times at the corner of North Howard Street and North Street in Akron in June of 2020.

A warrant was issued for Black's arrest shortly after the incident.

Over the past year and a half, leads were followed throughout Ohio and into Michigan, Kentucky, West Virginia and Tennessee to locate Black.

Recently, members of the task force determined that Black was living in Atlanta under a fake name.

Members of the NOVFTF positively identified Black leaving his apartment on Greyfield Lane. The Sandy Springs SWAT Team conducted a traffic stop, during which Black was arrested.

At the time of his arrest, Black was in possession of an AR rifle.

Black will remain in custody in Georgia until he can be extradited back to Ohio.

"Members of the Akron Police Department never gave up on this case. They knew that this suspect couldn't hide forever and we knew we would have him in custody," said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott.

Elliott went on to say that while this arrest would not bring Crawford back to her family, but he hopes that her family could find peace knowing that her killer is now behind bars.
