YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - U.S. Senate Democratic candidate, Morgan Harper made several stops in Youngstown on Tuesday as part of her first day of her Ohio Opportunity Guarantee Tour in the race for U.S. Senate.

Harper is looking to take the seat of Senator Rob Portman, as he had decided not to run for reelection.

She made stops at multiple local businesses including a local beauty shop on Market Street, as well as the Mocha House in Downtown Youngstown.

Harper plans to create 600,000 jobs throughout the state of Ohio. Other key campaign components include clean energy in the state, supporting small businesses, financial freedom for working families, universal healthcare and debt free education.

When asked why she should win the seat over her Democratic opponent, Tim Ryan, Harper blamed Ryan's lack of success and progress during his time in office.

"I saw how corrupt the system is that a lot of people aren't there to solve problems. They're just there to advance their careers and protect themselves. And so I'm not another politician, I am one of you," Harper said.

Harper plans on moving on to Kent where she will speak at the Kent State College Democrats Meeting.
