YOUNGSTOWN - One of 14 men arrested in Mahoning County as part of a statewide crackdown on human trafficking is headed for prison.
Bashar Abuzant, 31, of Liberty Township, was given a six-month sentence during a hearing in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court on Thursday.
Abuzant pleaded guilty earlier to sexual imposition and possessing criminal tools.
His arrest was part of an effort that Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost dubbed “Operation Autumn Hope.”
Federal, state, and local law enforcement say the operation was credited with rescuing 109 human trafficking victims, including 45 children.
In total, 177 people were arrested statewide.
