United Local School District gets anonymous $25,000 donation

HANOVERTON, Ohio - The United Local School District has received an anonymous donation of $25,000 just in time for Valentine's Day on Monday.
The district's Treasurer, Melissa Baker tells 21 News that this is far from the first anonymous donation the district has received. Baker tells us the school district has been seeing anonymous donations for 10 years.
When asked what the donation money will be used for, Baker told us the district principals all get together and discuss potential ideas for uses for the money.
From there, the high school principal takes the ideas to the family of the donor and gets their opinion on the ideas and continue from there.
Baker tells 21 News that the district is in the process of working on a new building, so the district does not want to use the money for renovations to the old building, but instead use it for something that can carry over to the new building.
In previous years, the district has used funds from these anonymous donations for new band uniforms, playground equipment, speaker systems, room renovations, student laptops and much more.
Baker expressed her gratitude for the years of support and states that the decisions made with the donation money are always made with the students in mind.
"We're very appreciative of their generosity each year. We will always use this money to benefit our students," Baker said.
