UNION TWP., Lawrence Co., Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police say the gunshot wound of a woman shot in a Union Township Walmart parking lot was self inflicted.

PSP Corporal, Randy Guy tells 21 News that physical evidence, video evidence and witness interviews revealed that the gunshot wound of 43-year-old Melissa Spring was self inflicted.

Guy says he does not believe that the shot was fired accidentally.

At approximately 4:30 on Sunday afternoon, police and state troopers responded to a call claiming that Spring had been shot in the chest.

Spring was transported to the New Castle Airport where she was transported to Saint Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown, where she is currently in critical condition.
