Numerous wrecks including a fatality, has prompted Sharon City Officials, and the state to tend to two of the area's most dangerous intersections.

A council meeting Wednesday night will detail ordinances of the recently added "no turn on red signs", placed on Spencer and Service Avenues, prohibiting vehicles from turning right on to the west-bound lane of the Shenango Valley Freeway, also known as E.Connelly Blvd, or Route 62.

"We've lived here for 18 years, going on 19, and this is the worst intersection.", says June Bruckner, who lives on Spencer Avenue.

There have been 12 accidents dating back to 2019, Bruckner says she's been involved in two of them herself.

"I had two accidents at this intersection, the first one was horrible, the second one the car was totaled.", she added.

A fatal wreck on November 5th, claimed the life Michael Davies, a 43-year old Greenville man.

"It's super important, how many more people have to go to the hospital, get killed, get taken away from their loved ones all because of an intersection." Codi Chriswell, a dear friend of Davies.

The Spencer and Service intersections are in the middle of a curve, partially obstructing views for drivers turning onto the freeway, as well as those traveling westbound on the freeway approaching both intersections.

"If you're coming down the freeway and that light is yellow and you try to beat it and don't make it, this light is green and they're going through, and Kaboom!", says Mark Mansell, who lives one house down from the Spencer Ave.-Shenango Valley intersection.

The increasing concern prompted the City officials, and PennDOT to make changes.

"The State has already erected signs and we just have to pass the ordinance to say what it is...no right on red anymore.", said Sharon Council member William James.
