Perhaps the only thing the people of Poland appreciated more than Brian Goodin's service was his sacrifice.
Wednesday night, the people Goodin served did their best to return the favor.

Everyone from elected officials to fellow first responders gathered to send him off to a new career venture in Columbus. He's taking a position with the Department of Public Safety after 32 years on Poland's force, 17 as chief.

"It's a lot of emotions," Goodin said. "It was a little bit hard to make the decision to give this up because it's been such a long time, my father was the first police chief back in 1977...it's a great community to work for and I couldn't ask for a better place."

Now, Goodin leaves hoping to set a standard that will last another generation.
