Firefighters called back twice to Mecca's Lake Tavern as supporters offer prayers

MECCA TWP., Ohio - To look at the damage done by flames at Mecca Township's historic Lake Tavern, you wouldn't think there was much more to burn.
However, firefighters have been called back to the ruins of the building twice since the original fire broke out Wednesday morning.
Crews were sent to the site of the former business on Route 46 late Wednesday and again Thursday when flames were reported coming from the remnants.
The latest fire broke out just after 7 a.m. near an ice machine. Firefighters poured about 1,000 gallons of water on the flames to extinguish the blaze.
Investigators are still looking for the cause of the fire that destroyed the building which was constructed in 1837 and underwent remodeling last year.
Expressions of support and sadness are being posted on the tavern's Facebook page with some people offering prayers.
