AUSTINTOWN TWP., Ohio - An Austintown Police officer found a use for a couple of telephone books discarded along a township road.
The officer was called out Monday morning to investigate damage caused to cars by a pothole on Ohltown Road, just south of North Turner Road.
In addition to placing a cone next to the hole to warn drivers, he found a couple of phone books along the roadside and placed them in the hole to soften the blow for any other vehicles that may encounter the pothole.
The Mahoning County Engineers Office was contacted to patch the hole.
21 News returned to the road at 11 a.m. and found that the pothole had been patched.
