CANFIELD, Ohio - PNC Bank is notifying customers that it plans to close its Tippencanoe branch, along with its Warren branch in late May.

In a letter to account holders, the Pittsburgh-based bank announced that the branch at Starrs Centre Drive, Canfield will close at 3 p.m. on May 20.

According to the letter, operations will be consolidated with the existing Boardman branch on Southern Park Mall property, which is about three miles away from the Canfield location.

PNC says the closing decision was based on a study of the effectiveness of its branches based on their size and the number of customers who use the branch.

The building housing the Tippecanoe branch was constructed in 1979 according to online records.

The Warren branch at 8215 East Market St. in Warren will also close and be consolidated with the Niles branch at 5995 Youngstown-Warren Rd.
