The Mahoning County Auditor’s Office is offering information to voters about how much they can expect to pay in taxes if levies are approved in the Spring Primary Election.

Auditor Ralph Meacham has added a page to the department’s website that shows the cost of levies to be voted on in May.

Voters in Canfield, Campbell, Coitsville, Lowellville, Struthers, and Sebring are being asked to consider new monies.

Property taxes are measured in mills. One mill generates one dollar of tax for each $1,000 of a property’s assessed value.

There are ten levies on the ballot for the May 3, 2022, primary election, and the calculation of each of these levies is available on the Proposed Levies page of the County Auditor’s website.

“A local school district requested I provide the calculation for their proposed levy on my website,” said Meacham. “Providing this information helps the districts seeking the levies and provides the affected taxpayers with the amount of increase generated by the levies.”

The Proposed Levies page will be updated before each election.

Additionally, a tax rate comparison schedule is available on the Financial Documents page.  This schedule provides the changes in effective tax rates between the tax year 2020 and tax year 2021 by taxing district.
