Former Warren charter school teacher pleads to sex charges
A Howland man who formerly taught math at a Warren charter school has pleaded guilty to charges alleging sex crimes committed against a fifteen-year-old girl.
Jordan Owens, 29, appeared in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday and entered the pleas to amended charges of importuning, disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, and illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented materials.
A secret indictment was handed up against Owens in December by the Trumbull County Grand Jury.
Owens lost his teaching job at River Gate High School following an investigation into the allegations by Warren Police and officials of the school which serves students at risk of dropping out.
The original indictment, which says Owens was involved with the teen in October and November, included an attempted sexual battery count which was filed because Owens was a teacher at the time.
Owens was accused of creating nude images of the teen and sharing obscene material with juveniles.
Sentencing will be scheduled after an investigation by the court
