W&J student expelled after photos of sign harassing Westminster athlete surface

Late Sunday, 21 News learned of a disturbing incident during the Westminster women's basketball team during their Saturday road game at Washington and Jefferson.
According to several posts on social media, some members of the W&J student section held up a sign displaying the date Westminster player and Ursuline grad Lindsay Bell's father died.
The picture has been posted many times on social media.
People who have seen it called for action.
The outrage prompted a statement from Washington and Jefferson.
It says the student was immediately removed from the game and as of (Sunday) morning is no longer enrolled at the school.
The statement went on to say that student's actions are not representative of the Washington and Jefferson community.
