LISBON, Ohio - Multiple fire departments were called to extinguish a motel fire in Lisbon Tuesday morning.

The fire happened at the Travelers Motel on the 9000 block of State Route 45 around 8 a.m.

Fire officials say the blaze began in the ceiling of the motel and crews worked to maintain the flames to that area.

Three of the motel's rooms had people staying in them but they were not in the building when the fire began.

Lisbon's Fire Chief said one of the motel residents lost everything in the blaze but the motel itself is not a total loss.

The roadway had to be blocked off for a short time while crews battled the flames.

State Route 45 has since reopened in the area.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
