WASHINGTON - After nearly a year of record-breaking fundraising for his U.S. Senate campaign, Valley Congressman Tim Ryan has pledged to raise more than $3 million to help other Democrats on the ballot in Ohio.

Ryan's has announced that it is investing in a statewide coordinated campaign, which includes utilizing the campaign's email list to help down-ballot candidates raise funds for their own campaigns.

"Tim launched his campaign with a pledge to build the strongest possible grassroots team. That begins with an aggressive organizing operation that can reach voters in every corner of Ohio," said Tim for Ohio spokesperson Izzi Levy.

According to his campaign, Ryan has broken Ohio fundraising records every quarter since launching his campaign last April.

Ryan began this year with $5 million in his campaign treasure chest. The campaign said that 97% of the donations for the last quarter of 2021 were in amounts of $100 or less.

"This investment is a critical step toward building a strong Democratic Party and a robust, coordinated campaign that's ready to not only flip Ohio's open Senate seat but also carry pro-worker candidates up and down the ballot to a win in November," said Levy.

Ryan campaign officials say they will coordinate with other campaigns and organizations on what they describe as a digital fundraising "money bomb" to help other candidates from his party raise the resources they need to compete in their races.

According to politicaldictionary.com, a "money bomb" is an intense grassroots online fundraising effort over a brief fixed time period to support a candidate for election.

The term was first applied to a fundraising effort on behalf of the 2008 presidential campaign of Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX), which the San Jose Mercury News described at the time as "a one-day fundraising frenzy."
