VIDEO: Lordstown Motors president shows the Endurance on ice

LORDSTOWN, Ohio - The President of Lordstown Motors says he was “surprised” how well the all-electric Endurance pickup truck performed during extremely cold weather testing.
A video released by the company on Thursday gives aerial and ground-level views of the Endurance speeding along on ice and snow during a test in Beaudette, Minnesota.
The one-minute-long video is narrated by LMC President Edward Hightower, who says the testing is important because customers will rely on the truck and depend on it for work.
“They have to perform on low friction surfaces like ice and snow,” said Hightower who touted the individual motors on each of the truck’s four wheels.
"When we do these tests, we often have an expectation on how the vehicle will perform because we've done a lot of simulations through our computer-aided engineering,” said Hightower. “But one of the things that has surprised me as we've done this testing here in Baudette on these low traction situations is how well the Endurance has performed because it is an Endurance with our in-wheel hub motors.”
Hightower says the Endurance will offer a superior combination of handling, traction control, torque, and turning radius.
Lordstown Motors is still working on manufacturing an Endurance that is ready for sale.
During its recent reporting of an $81 million fourth-quarter loss, company officials revealed that they plan to only manufacture 500 all-electric Endurance pickup trucks this year another 2,500 the following year.
