Youngstown Cityscape plans $2 million in Wick Park improvements

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Youngstown Cityscape is known for keeping the downtown area vibrant with the planting of flowers and the sweeping of sidewalks. Now the goals of this organization are reaching much higher.
As Youngstown Cityscape kicked off its 25th year, it also announced a new capital campaign to raise more than $4 million in the next 3 to 5 years.
The bulk of that money raised, $2 million, will go towards improvements to Wick Park, and with 25 years under its belt - the cityscape volunteers say they are up to the task
"With the next chapter, we are marketing the last 25 years of steady rewarding hands on work here in downtown youngsotwn and looking forward to the future of mixing the creative with the concrete to make our city the best it can be," said Scott Schulick with Youngstown CityScpae.
This year's 25th annual planting day is scheduled for Saturday, June 4th and volunteers are invited to help beautify the greater downtown area by planting flowers and shrubs and clearing debris.
Other plans for money raised, include:
- CityScape at Briel's : $740,000
- Youngstown CityScape Endowment Fund: $450,000
- Downtown Strategic Investment Fund: $500,000
- Streetscape Planting Pots: $200,000
