One man is in jail on charges of felonious assault after allegedly stealing a knife from BJ's Brewhouse in Boardman and attacking someone he came into the bar with.

Boardman police say 41-year-old Hyojin Kim was at the bar with his co-worker getting drinks around 11 p.m. Sunday night when things went sour.

Witnesses said both Kim and the victim came into the bar and had been drinking. According to reports, Kim seemed to become agitated as the night went on. Kim eventually stood up from the bar and pushed the victim, witnesses told police. Written accounts said that nobody knew if Kim and the victim were joking or fighting. The victim reportedly stood up before Kim grabbed a knife from the bar and began slashing and stabbing the victim.

Witnesses told police that Kim left the restaurant and left the knife in the parking lot.

Officers observed slashes in the victim's jacket and said Kim appeared intoxicated.

Kim was booked into the Mahoning County Jail on charges of felonious assault.

Police said that while the knife used in the alleged incident belongs to BJ's Brewhouse, they would not pursue theft charges unless the business approves it.
