Niles man sentenced for having sex with teen

A Niles man has been sentenced to spend the next two years in prison for having sex with a fifteen-year-old girl at his home.
Xavier Baynes, 26, of Cherry Street was sentenced Thursday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
Baynes pleaded guilty in February to two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. A third count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and one count of gross sexual imposition were dropped.
According to police, Baynes was arrested on charges of rape, gross sexual imposition, and corruption of a minor after bringing the girl to his Cherry Street home and getting her drunk.
Investigators say Baynes picked up the teen from her home near New Castle, Pennsylvania on November 19, and took her to his home, giving her drinks of hard seltzer as well as other alcoholic beverages that he bought at a local convenience store.
Although the teen told police she didn’t resist Bayne’s alleged advances, she told them she was intoxicated at the time.
